I, Komolafe B. Michael, PhD, gratefully acknowledge the boundless mercy and abundant grace of Almighty God, who has been my source of strength throughout this journey (Job 26:2-3).

I extend my profound gratitude to my supervisors, Prof. (Mrs.) T.T. Adebolu and Dr. B.O. Oladejo, for their invaluable mentorship, contributions, and guidance. Their expertise and support have significantly contributed to my academic and personal growth.

I appreciate the exceptional leadership of Prof. D. J. Arotupin, Head of the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Technology, Akure, the academic staff, including Dr. (Mrs) O.O. Olusola-Makinde, and the technologists for their dedication and knowledge sharing.

Special thanks to Dr. I. Gideon, Dr. T. P. Omayone, Mrs. C. O. Awe, Dr. A. N. Adedosu, and Mr. Segun Owoseni for their assistance and support during the study.

Most especially, I thank my wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Eunice Oluwatoyin Komolafe, and my children, Tabitha Inioluwa, David Taiwo, and Daniel Kehinde, for their love, prayers, and unwavering support.
